If you fly one hour east from MIAMI you'll cross over the populous islands most people associate with the Bahamas, and you'll land at the long, narrow island of Eleuthera.
Take a taxi to the dock and a quick boat ride across the bay to come within sight of the tiny jewel of Harbour Island, my home.
I'm Robert Arthur, and my ancestors helped build this place. It's a tiny, Victorian-Style village of narrow streets, boungainvillea - draped archways, and friendly people descended largely from folk who came seeking freedom from religious persecution or from slavery.
I grew up in the States and was blessed with one of those one - in - a - million success stories in TV and film. But when it came time to settle down, my wife Anna and I were drawn back to the village life of Harbour Island. We run Arthur's Bakery, which sits at the heart of the island and serves as a crossroads for the artists, media peple, and world-weary, experienced travelers who are drawn here.
We'd like to show you how Harbour Island looks to us, and through the eyes of some of our local friends. And recently I've gotten my real estate license. So I can show you.
Once you get to know the place, you'll probably want to call it "my Harbour Island".
